On May 22nd, NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa finished up his solo tour in Taiwan. He was welcomed by legions of fans when he entered Taiwan, and he left them swooning and fainting when he announced his “Proposal” on stage.
The concert was three days long and sold out almost immediately after tickets went on sale, and total revenue for the stop totaled over 1 billion yen. During his second day, Yamashita waved, shook hands, threw kisses, and provided other forms of fan service to the 5,000 screaming fangirls.
During the talk portion of the concert, a fan asked him how he would propose to his future bride. He replied by saying “I want you” in English, causing fans to scream.
Yamashita started his Asia solo tour in January, where he made stops in Hong Kong, Seoul, and Thailand.
His Taiwan show was originally supposed to be in March, but was postponed because of the earthquake. The May 22nd live was the last stop before he returned to Japan to finish up his tour on the 29th.
Fashion magazine non-no recently held a charity event, called “Charity non Colle“, on May 21st.
It was a combination event that mixed the magazine’s 40th anniversary and the relief fund for the Tohoku charity. Models Mizobata Junpei of D☆DATE and Sasaki Nozomi made an appearance at the event to encourage people to contribute.
About 40 non-no male models were there as well, and they did a walk and talk in front of fans. As soon as they made their appearance, about 5000 fans ran to them from noon to evening.
When Sasaki and Mizobata appeared though, the audience went absolutely bananas for them. Mizubata, who wore a suit when he made his entrance, took a rose out of his chest pocket and threw it into the audience.
Mizobata confessed that he called Sasaki for the first time to ask for her help in planning the whole “throwing the rose into the audience” thing, and she was more than happy to help him out.
In the end, the models did a final walk and were holding collection boxes to raise money for the earthquake victims.

Overall, it was a smoothly executed event that will hopefully help generate further revenue for the heavily affected regions and survivors.

“Koi no Fushigi” is Cherie’s first single since re-debuting under Univeral Music Japan, and she switched labels in February of this year to get a fresh start.
She originally debuted back in 2007 with the single “Sha la la -Ayakashi NIGHT-” for the anime “Kekkaishi” under GIZA studio. The song was produced by B’z’s Inaba Koushi and ranked #13 on the Oricon Chart.
Cherie will hold a CD release event on June 4th at SHIBUYA BOXX, called “~Live no Fushigi~“, and it will start at 17:30 and the cost is ¥3,000 ($36.83 USD).
Nikkan Sports reported today that Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari and model/actress Sasaki Nozomi are in a serious relationship.
According to the article, the two became acquainted when Sasaki made an appearance on Arashi’s TV program “Himitsu no Arashi-chan” last spring. Sasaki had said of Ninomiya, “(He’s) bright, smart, and able to lighten the atmosphere. (I) only have a good impression.”
Ninomiya had said in a past magazine interview that his ideal type was “a hardworking and cute girl, in terms of both face and personality.” Sasaki had said at an event that her ideal type was someone “funny, kind, and I can be myself around.”
The two have been reportedly dating since last winter. Because of their careers, the two have been spending time in Sasaki’s home rather than going out on dates in public. A neighbor living in Sasaki’s mansion revealed, “I see Ninomiya-san twice a week when it’s frequent.”
A friend of Sasaki said the model revealed that “(Ninomiya) is really kind” and that they “practically live together” because of frequent home dates.
If the rumor is true, the two would be a very high profile couple. At the moment, Ninomiya and Sasaki have not commented officially about their relationship.
AKB48 has revealed a drama PV and a dance shot PV of their new single, “Everyday, Kachuusha“! In addition to that, they’ve released their three B-side PVs as well.
On May 19th, AKB48 Team B captain, Kashiwagi Yuki, posted two cute pictures of her outfits on her blog. Kashiwagi is currently the weather girl for “Hiruobi” and these two outfits were her Monday and Tuesday weather girl clothes.
Kashiwagi commented on her Monday set (the above picture): “A cherry designed skirt. It’s too cute! (^q^)”. And then she also included an adorable picture from Tuesday in a flowery top (the picture below).
Kashiwagi finished up her blog asking readers: “Everyone, which outfit do you prefer~ <3 ??”
On May 19th an embarrassing incident happened to AKB48’s leader Takahashi Minami.
Someone gave her a big kiss after she finished filming her scene for AKB48’s current drama, “Majisuka Gakuen 2”. Takahashi realized she needed to wipe off the lipstick stain, but before she had the chance, she ran into fellow AKB member Sato Sumire who noticed the odd mark immediately.
It sparked an awkward conversation which went as follows:
Sumire: “Uhm…Takamina-san…”
Takahashi: “Huh?”
Sumire: “This is really hard to say, but…”
Takahashi: “??”
Sumire: “You have a kiss mark on you!!!”
Sumire was really agitated, which in turn flustered Takahashi and agitated her as well. Takahashi did her best to explain the situation to Sumire and was grateful she had that chance to explain before causing a strange misunderstanding.
But, we’re sure you’re all wondering who the kissing culprit was. It was none other than Sato Yukari of AKB48’s sexy sister group SDN48. Takahashi explains the scene below:
Model and actress Sasaki Nozomi can be seen in a beautiful new pictorial for the magazine Young Jump.
There isn’t a day Sasaki doesn’t appear on TV these days and it was a refreshing change when she decided to get herself a slightly shorter and more natural hairstyle around one month ago. However, it doesn’t seem like her image changed at all. The staff of Young Jump described her to be as free and as playful as when they first worked with her after her debut.
No matter how much she changes her appearance, she is always going to stay the lovely and cute Sasaki Nozomi.
The “Queen of Hip-Pop”, Amuro Namie, has just announced a new single!
The triple A-side single, “NAKED/Fight Together/-TBA-“, will be released on July 27th, and it will be her first single of 2011.
She just released a collaboration album, “Checkmate!“, last month (April 27th), which hit #1 on the Oricon Chart and was #2 on the United World Chart.
“NAKED” will be the theme song to a Kose CM for “ESPRIQUE“, and it’ll be produced by Osawa Shinichi with lyrics provided by VERBAL (m-flo). It’s said that “NAKED” is a very “Amuro-ish” song, meaning it’s dance-able.
The second song, “Fight Together”, as stated earlier, is the theme song to anime “ONE PIECE“, and went on-air in April.
The third song has yet to be revealed, but is said to have a major tie-up.
The triple A-side single will come in a limited and regular edition. The limited edition coming with a DVD and costs ¥1,890 ($23 USD), while the regular edition is ¥1,260 ($15 USD).
The song “Fight Together” will be available on Chaku Uta (R) on June 1st, and you can check out the song from the opening of “ONE PIECE” below:
AKB48 member Yamauchi Suzuran (16) attended a new men’s golf tournament, called “Toufumi Hamamatsu Open“, at the Grandy Hamanako Golf Course in Shizuoka prefecture. There she became the first AKB48 member to participate in a pro-am golf tournament.
Kuramoto Masahiro (55), the pro golfer partnered with Yamauchi, commented, “She swings like Yokomine Sakura and hits 240 yards with a driver. Not many celebrities have a clean swing like that. It might not be too late for her to consider going pro.”
Yamauchi started golf in the third grade, and she has an impressive best score of 92. She commented, “It was a good learning experience to learn how to putt from a pro. It’d be great to get better as a hobby.”
Last year, Yamauchi got 36th place in the AKB48 senbatsu election, but this year she says, “My goal is to make the top 22!”
KAT-TUN has filmed another CM for SUZUKI’s compact car “SOLIO“, and this time, a new song called “Run for You” was used as the theme track.
The 15-second CM is the “Going Outdoors” version and shows the five members driving out to an outdoor field. It’s been announced that an alternate version will be revealed in the coming days. In addition to the CM, KAT-TUN also made a special message video for fans.
It is unknown at the moment how or when “Run for You” will be officially released.
Sankei Sports reported on May 17th that singer-songwriter Uemura Kana and comedy duo King Kong’s Nishino Akihiro are dating. According to a source close to both parties, the two began their relationship last fall.
On the May 11th episode of the variety show “Haneru Tobira“, Nishino was asked by the program’s hosts, “You have a girlfriend right now, right? A very famous person. Yes or No?”
Nishino replied, “Why did you say it!!“, and added, “We’ve gone on many dates in secret.”
Although the important part was cut out of the broadcast, a source who was at the filming revealed that Nishino was teased for having a girlfriend who liked toilets (a reference to Uemura’s hit song, “Toilet no Kamisama“).
The audio for Nishino Kana’s “Only One”, featured on her upcoming single Esperanza, which is releasing on May 18th, has just been revealed.
The song features a pounding beat and auto-tuned vocals, making for a great tune to pump you up or dance to. It also features rap parts by Nishino, which are full of cuteness and attitude, and the song is a great complement to the summery feel of the title track.
