Utada Hikaru directed the PV for “Goodbye Happiness”!

Utada Hikaru released the PV for “Goodbye Happiness” today, and reportedly, the PV was directed and conceptualized by the singer herself.

According to Oricon style, Utada participated in staff meetings (even for the smallest details!), and drew up its storyboard. Utilizing only one camera, the PV was taken in one shot.

The PV was stamped with her name written in proper Kanji (“宇多田光”), as opposed to using her recording name (” 宇多田ヒカル”). For those of us who aren’t quite proficient in reading Japanese, both read as “Utada Hikaru”.

The multi-talented artist said, “I wanted to show my fans how I live as “宇多田光 (Utada Hikaru)” – this would exhibit the way I express and act as a person, and not as the artist ‘宇多田ヒカル (Utada Hikaru)’.”

Fans can relive the PV over and over again as a special addition to their pre-order. If you haven’t seen it already, but sure to check out “Goodbye Happiness” below!
